# Need to open an .fp7 file

Hi:

I have just a couple .fp7 and .fp5 files that I would like to convert to .fmp12. I'm running Sonoma on an M3 chip. Is there a service for this or a virtualization option? Thanks, k!

Search the forum. I’m sure we’ve been asked and answered this question. V7 files can be opened by current version of FileMaker. There is an extra step for v5, to convert to v 7 then to v12
