# Upgrading to FMS 19

There is a step missing between 6 and 7, one that can lead to issues:  
after uninstalling FMS, rename the leftover "filemaker server" folder and reboot, before installing FMS.

This rename & reboot has been best practice going way back... without it the new FMS can sometimes pick up leftover files from the old installation 'that don't quite fit anymore'. More often than not that translates into issues related to web publishing in all its aspects (actual web publishing, webdirect, streaming interactive containers, data api,..)
