I’ve had problems installing FileMaker Pro 2025 (22) on 3 Windows PCs now as per my post in the community here:
Has anyone else experienced this problem?. I’ve been given a solution - Claris Community (English) - which boils down to this procedure:
If you've v21 (2024) in a folder called FileMaker Pro:
Duplicate the FileMaker Pro folder in Program Files\FileMaker
Rename the duplicated folder FileMaker Pro 21
Uninstall FileMaker Pro 21(!)
Install FMP v22 (preferably in a FileMaker Pro 22 folder, tweak the installation folder path when prompted)
Create a new shortcut to the FileMaker Pro 2024 exe file
If you've v21 (2024) in a folder already called FileMaker Pro 21:
Duplicate the FileMaker Pro 21 folder in Program Files\FileMaker
Leave it named FileMaker Pro 21 - Copy
Uninstall FileMaker Pro 21
Install FMP v22 (preferably in a FileMaker Pro 22 folder, tweak the installation folder path when prompted)
Rename the FileMaker Pro 21 - Copy folder to FileMaker Pro 21
Create a new shortcut to the FileMaker Pro 2024 exe file
James Tussey’s comment that:
This is the result of a change with FileMaker Pro 2024 (version 21), where the folder created when you install FileMaker Pro is now simply called "FileMaker Pro" without a version number.
doesn’t appear to totally hold water, as we spotted this way back and changed the default location to a FileMaker Pro 21 folder during the installation procedure.
Any input would be gratefully received. Windows only, Macs are fine and we’ve never had this problem before (in 40-years)
Thanks
Andy
