MBS Sale for Black Friday

As you may know Americans love to shop on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year Black Friday is 29th November. About half our customers are in North America, so we are happy to offer you a discount if you buy this weekend.

Please use coupon code BlackFriday for the web shop with 20% off for new licenses of MBS Plugins, DynaPDF and LibXL.
Updates are already offered with discount (usually 50%) compared to new purchases and and our academic prices already have a discount, too. If you like, you can email us to get an order link for all licenses you need or provide an invoice if needed. Especially if you like to use Paypal for payment, we can provide a link with discount or write a custom invoice.

Order MBS FileMaker Plugin Order LibXL

As usual the discounted offer allows you to buy whatever licenses you may need in the next year. Especially if your license expired in 2023 or before, this is a great chance to get up to date!

You have a question? Please don't hesitate to contact us by email or form. We may help to point you to the right offer.

Christian,

Just a suggestion, but you should offer a 25 seat license price. 25 seats is the minimum for a FM site license. Anyone with 13 or more users (and 25 of less employees) is break even on pricing and gains the advantage of unlimited FMGO and WebDirect users. (I have a number of clients in just this scenario).

The 20 seat pricing jumping to 50, doesn't align well with FM pricing, although the $150 just from 20 to 50 is relatively insignificant...... just a thought.....

... or maybe I don't understand the licensing model between users and server???

Well, the pricing is that

2x 5 seats costs about what 20 seats cost
20+5 seats cost about what 50 seats cost
50+5 seats cost about what 100 seats cost.

So if you need 25, just take the 50 seats one.

If someone here has a DynaPDF license, we may also offer the discount on the upgrades.
Please let us know if you e.g. have a Lite license and need a Pro one.

Please contact me, if you need something.

The question was more on marketing psychology. If one has a 25 user fm license, one does not want to pay for a 50 user MBS license. Logic does not have a large influence even when the financial logic makes sense. It is the same illogical psychology that begets $9.99 prices.

The point on not understanding the licensing; if one has FMS and say 10 FMP users does that mean a server AND a 10 user license? Not clear on that.

Hey @Kirk ,
the user licenses at MBS are intended for use in FileMaker Pro.

There are also server licenses (for 1, 2, 3 or 5 servers). These can be used via PSOS regardless of the number of users.

I use both.

That is not clear from the pricing page. A problem not unique to MBS. Seems like a lot of product pricing pages are “muddy”.

Why is that not clear on the pricing page?

The user or seat license states: „For using in one company for their installations of a FileMaker solution with FileMaker Pro.“

The server license states: For using the plugin on one FileMaker Server or Claris Server installation for Scheduled Scripts, PSoS, Data API and Web Direct.

I just wasn't sure about the Developer Pro license and had to ask.

I also asked about the licenses for LibXL and Dyna PDF because I wasn't sure if I had understood the explanation correctly.

But MBS seat and server license were clear to me.
[EDIT:] Maybe that's because Christian and I are both Germans, who may have similar ticks when it comes to writing and reading English text. :innocent:

So I need one FMP license to implement and one server license for the 25 users. All solutions exist on the server so no MBS required on the client, correct?

OR, does each desktop require a license as well?

OR does the server license only apply to PSoS operations that would use an MBS command and client licenses are required but one would not need a server license?

Clear as mud……

Oh, and how does FMGo play in this?

And if all the clients are only using WebDirect, what license model covers that scenario? Just the server right…. Unless that need to drop to FMP for some function. The dev still needs a license to implement correct?

If only certain users are allowed to run scripts with MBS commands, are they the only ones requiring licenses?

If you want FileMaker Pro directly use MBS, you need a seat license.

If your’re fine with doing all the MBS stuff via "Perfom Script on Server" (or Webdirect, Data API, Scheduled Scripts) then you don't need a seat license. You need only a server license then.

FileMaker Go doesn't allow plugins at all.

Using MBS in Webdirect: Server license.

So for 25 seats you buy the 50 seats one as it costs same as 20 + 5.
I really don't like to change pricing as that has a string of consequences.

DynaPDF is per developer in your staff. LibXL is per platform and per developer unless you get LibXL Enterprise to cover every developer in a company with all platforms.

If you use plugin on both server and FileMaker Pro, you need both licenses. And the server license doesn't include seats. So some clients do everything with PSoS on the server, so they skip the seats licenses.

The point was just clarity on pricing/license requirements. After 20+ years as a Claris partner, “grokking” this license structure is discernible…. but to someone that does not live and breathe FileMaker, it is not as intuitive as it could/should be.

Thanks for posting the SALE opportunity. Now to piece together the license/component pieces for a dozen different clients and see what makes sense.

Sale continues today on Cyber Monday!

Anyone else likes to use the offer?
Otherwise I'd like to end the sale later tonight.
