Storing a .fmp12 file in a container field works very well on the Mac. It displays the correct icon and when exporting and option checked to auto open the file it opens as it supposed to do within FileMaker.
I wish that this would behave same on Windows where it fails. First it shows a PDF icon even the filename ends with .fmp12 postfix and the export and auto open checked won't do anything. Any ideas?
That sorta sounds like windows is configured weird and doesn't recognize FMP as the default program to open fmp12 files.
For me, exporting a fmp12 file from a container field on windows with auto-open opens in FMP as expected
Maybe try right clicking a fmp12 file on your windows desktop, and choosing FMP as the default program to open files of that type, if not already. or if already, maybe try switching the program to something else and back to FMP to see if "jiggling it" works.
