Manage Database Not Responding

Server: TBD

Client: FMP 21.0.2.200

OS: Windows 11.0 x86

When I try to make a change in FMS “manage database” the file locks up (not responding) and I have to force FMP to quit. I checked a couple of other files and they work fine, so I think the file is damaged. (I know making live changes is not preferred.) Is there anyway to use the FMS tools to troubleshoot this?

I guess you mean invoking Manage database in FileMaker Pro on a file hosted by FMS ?

If the table you work on has open records, that may cause a lock up and FMP will have to wait for the table to be available.

To check if the file is damaged, download a copy locally to verify its health.

Working on live files is dangerous, can you get a moment when everybody is out to do the changes ?

There were no open records, so I don’t believe that’s the issue. I restored a backup and will test that file tomorrow.

@steverichter also carry out a recovery (File menu > Recover) on the file after replacing it. If it reports a problem and claims to have fixed it, then recover the recovered copy and see whether it goes through this time without finding any issues.

If the recovery fails, then it is time to adopt Sherlock Holmes techniques.
