Fmsoup Branding (Logo)

The second one looks like a cigarette in an ash tray :pensive:.

lol i will remove my attempts to avoid further confusion

I also like the sharp bowl better. Nice contrast with round letters. Well done, tnx!

I like your suggestions too. The only thing that bothers me is the open “d”. Maybe this way?

Two objects bleeding out of the frame would be too much. That’s why I put the Tilde a little lower.
BTW: this is Version 2.3.

I think I like the open bowl better just from the fact it doubles as a smile. I know some smiley also use the :-p combination. The d~ can be confused with ~p (depending on what side you turn your head), so instead of a smile, we have someone sticking their tongue out.

My preferences are for original #1 or the quick and dirty alernate version. I’d like the two tildes to be aligned. I don’t get anything from #2. It makes me wonder what you’re trying to say to me. ( Why the break the visual line at the top? Is that tilde entering from the outside? or leaving? )

My vote goes to…V2.

Thanks very much @cheesus for the fantastic work.

FWIW: I most like the very first two versions posted, with a slight preference to the (single) tilde being fully enclosed.

mmm I just arrived at this forum... I am more of an archivist and visualizer than programmer... still working with databases in art & archives for over twenty years... here a suggestion for a more soup like icon(the hot air is made up of 3x ~ turned counterclockwise) l_fmsoup

Welcome to the soup @tjebbe. Thank you for your suggestion.
We might revisit the logo for formal choice during a general meeting in the spring.

+1 Welcome @tjebbe !

ah there you are... I arrived here because I found/downloaded a few days ago this
PDF WebViewer Thing-a-ma-bob, v.4
written by you -forgot where I found it - luckily the string 'steve_ssh" is a kind of unique ao I arrived here. Now I am not sure whether I should pose my questions about this PDF Web Viewer (using js) here or in a direct message to you... (that seems to me the best option). So How can I contact you directly? NB I am looking for better control of the way in which PDF are shown and can be accessed within a Web Viewer... (single, double page, thumbnails, full screen and back, search options, highlights or not and the like). I am developing archive/library and museum projects for many years... but I am not a professional programmer myself, though I have worked with many... combining my artistic and historical expertise with others.

Hello @tjebbe,

Either a new post (distinct from this one about the Branding/Logo) or a direct message would work fine for me.

I am not sure which would be more appropriate, but both are possible here:

  • New post via the New Topic button on the same page
  • A direct message by clicking on my avatar image

Today is something of a hectic day for me, but as soon as I can, I will respond with thoughts or questions about whatever I see from you.

Kind regards,

-steve

@tjebbe If it is javascript in conjunction with FileMaker, then I suggest a new post so that everyone can benefit from it. If not at all FM related then PM might be the best way to go.
Thank you!

What's wrong with the current logo?
I think, @cheesus did a great job.
